How does ‘Nagastra-1’ work
The way ‘Nagastra-1’ works is quite different from a common drone. Its special feature is that as soon as it finds its target, it crashes into it and destroys the target. The specialty of these drones is that their target can be changed even during mid-flight. The advantage of this is that the target can be destroyed with greater efficiency.
Attacks with an accuracy of 2 meters
‘Nagastra-1’ is a GPS enabled drone. When the ‘kamikaze mode’ is activated, it can neutralise any threat with an accuracy of 2 metres.
9 kg weight, 30km range
It is a fixed-wing electric unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) weighing about 9 kg and has an autonomous mode range of about 30 km. It can travel up to 15 km with a 1 kg warhead. Its upgraded version can travel up to 30 km with a 2.2 kg warhead.
If the target is not found, the drone comes back
If the target is not found or the mission is aborted, then this drone can also be called back. It has a parachute system for landing. Because of this, a drone can be used multiple times.
Indian company has made ‘Nagastra-1’
According to reports, these drones have been manufactured by the Indian company Economic Explosives Limited (EEL), which is a subsidiary of Nagpur-based Solar Industries. The Army had placed an order for 480 drones with EEL, out of which 120 have been delivered.
